MITU MONTEIRO, CAPE VERDE and YO!

CAPE VERDE, SAL ISLAND, KITE AROUND ... Our WaveCamp Mitu Monteiro will take place on the 4 days with best wind conditions in the week between the 11th and the 18th of May 2013. Each day will include 4 hours intensive course to improve your techniques or reach new goals.

Wherever you come from, however you will come to Cape Verde, on the 11th of May, we will greet you in Santa Maria, together with the rest of the participants. Mitu will verify your level to create both individual and group plans. The group will consist of a minimum of 6 kitesurfers and a maximum of 9.

We know from our own experience, that watching yourself practicing kitesurf is the best way to detect and correct errors to improve your navigation. For this reason, at the WaveCamp Mitu Monteiro we count on the collaboration of Yo! Your personal HD Camera with which we will record you every day, in the water, in the air, in the waves to improve your skills and make sure you'll progress properly.

We're convinced that the Yo! Camera is one of the fundamental tools to improve your level, which is after all the main goal of our WaveCamp Mitu Monteiro

As mentioned before, we have a great "tour" of events planned for 2013 (KiteCamps,WaveCamps, ShapeCamps, KiteTrips…). Our intention is to show all the diversities of kite to everyone, no matter what their level is. So, we hope that you will be on the right spot at the right time to enjoy this wonderful sport all over the world..and always assisted by real pros.

Very soon, in May, we are heading off to Cape Verde for a WaveCamp with the one and only Mitu Monteiro! If you've always wanted to try out this sport in the waves, starting with surfkite, then this is your chance! in May the percentage of windy days is very high, the waves are ideal for progress and, well, what about Mitu?? Shape Camp Tarifa 5-9 December 2012

At Kite Around we're sure about one thing, what would Kitesurf be without the uncertainty of the wind conditions.
It is the eternal question: Will there be enough wind? Yes? No?
If we add this up to another climatic element, like the rain, kitesurf becomes a unique en complete activity.
There's room for everything, law of probability, pure rush of adrenaline, radical contact with nature,
meeting people from all over the world, different cultures. When all this is brought together, a miracle occurs.
We feel so happy, even if only for a little while. All this said, we're so sad because our friend Dani Alvarez
has not been lucky with his KiteCamps. First one was cancelled due to lack of wind, and the second one because of
heavy rain. Don't worry Dani, we're convinced that next year we`ll be able to organize it and have great fun.
We're very sorry for the people who subscribed and were left with the desire.

We keep on going, in December Kite-Around will be organizing a new event in Tarifa; the ShapeCamp.

 As always, our goal remains the same; providing kitesurfers with a professional and fun approach

 to the ins and outs and a behind the scenes of kitesurfing. You will be making your own board (surf or kite)

and take it home with you. Among other things, you will also be learning about materials, the painting,

 airbrushing, lamination, placement of keels...

A chat with Dani Alvarez

Looking forward to our KiteCamp in Tarifa, organized by Kite Around and with the help of Dani Alvarez, last month, we exchanged some impressions with the rider of  North.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN…I started at the national Kite Circuit, and not much time after that I was called by F. One to join his team. With the motivation and support of the French brand I improved very fast, I won the Spanish Cup in 2008 and the Sub Championship of Spain, I joined the international team… competitions, videos, photos, training in places I dreamt of as a child, and now I am part of the North team. I now have a little more freedom to practice freeride without the pressure of the competition.. 

AS RIDER…I am extremely competitive, this means I work very hard and I don’t stop progressing.

BRAZIL BRAZIL… Mi time in Brazil was amazing, it is a true paradise for kitesurfers, constant wind every day, the eternal philosophy of swimsuit and flip flops, waves, lagoons by the beach where the water reaches your waist, good and healthy food every day..what more can one ask for?? Well, yeah, parties, and we did have some, although the next day we needed to be in the water again to keep on practicing.. I really hope to meet you there soon!!!

Every Kitesurfers Home Away From Home in Essaouira

Riad Zahra is one of our absolute favorite places to stay when travelling to Essaouira in Morroco for our kitesurfing holidays. Without out a doubt has this Riad become like a second home for us.

But what is a Riad? A Riad is a traditional Moroccan palace or house that boasts an interior garden within the premises. The name comes from the Arabic word for garden, “Ryad”. What is so amazing is that the Riads are usually closed from the outside which doesn’t allow their charm to be seen from the streets, but once you step inside you will be invited to a whole new world, with planted trees, fountains, flowers, and an amazing architecture. Usually the Riads are square-shaped houses of one or two floors in which the rooms all open to the central interior patio. Many of these Riads have been converted to guesthouses or smaller hotels and Riad Zahra is one of them.

Riad Zahra is where we will be staying in Essaouria in September 2011. This will be the place to be as KITE AROUND is offering not only a unique holiday but the chance to head to a exotic location to participate in a new kitesurfing adventure;  a WAVE CAMP with the Dominican World Champion WaveMaster 2009, Jan Marcos Riviera! Riad Zahra will then also become your home away from home. The Riad is located close to the Medina (main square) and more importantly only 2 minutes away from the beach and the winds! The Riad has excellent facilities; a restaurant, cafe, bar, private parking, pool, internet, kite school and even a storage room for our kite material! Can it get any better?? Well yes, our host, Xavier, is the best one could hope for and makes the experience that extra special and welcoming.

From Riviera Maya in Mexico to Dakhla in Morocco, our friend Nuria Goma (Liquid Force) has not stopped and is completing one competition after another...

After being sick during the first two days of the competition in Mexico Nuria Goma showed her strength by fighting back and comming in third in the PKRA Mexico Event (Professional Kiteboard Riders Association). After Mexico, Nuria Goma crossed the Atlantic and headed for Dakhla in Morocco and finished in fourth place in the category of Waves!
